Renewable Jet Fuel, DirectJet

Sunshine Biofuels  is currently developing two 3,000 barrel per day bio-refineries. Both locations will use licensed technology to produce 100% Renewable ASTM 975 “Drop in” Diesel fuel, Naphtha, Jet-A, F-76 Navy Fuel, and JP-5 Jet fuels. This revolutionary and flexible refinery can utilize multiple feedstocks including Brown Grease, Yellow Grease, and bioenery crops like Carinata or Pongamia now under aggressive development in the Southeasten United States.

This processing methodology was researched and selected by Sunshine Biofuels due to its reduced capital expense per barrel of nameplate capacity coupled with a significantly lower Hydrogen demand allowing for much lower production expense as well creating  a strong economic advantage over the nearest competing technology.

Sunshine Biofuels is a working with the Southeast Partnership for Renewables from Carinata (SPARC) as a  refinery development partner and a member of both the supply chain and Jet and Co-Product Development committees. SPARC is supported by the National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). SPARC includes leading universities and State stakeholders working together to establish commercially viable renewable jet fuel market produced from Carinata by 2022.

The program’s plan is to develop and commercialize Carinata, a mustard seed like oil producing plant, into a large-scale energy crop and feedstock for refining Renewable Jet fuel to sell to Commercial Airlines and the U.S. Military as well as diesel fuel. Past USDA CAP projects have led to the successful commercialization of farm to Jet fuels in the Pacific Northwest with developers like SkyNRG at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and AltAir for Los Angeles International Airport.
